The Boston College Eagles and the Syracuse Orange will meet up on the college football gridiron Saturday.
Boston College sits at 4-4 so far. The Eagles have wins over Virginia Tech, Richmond, Rutgers and NC State but have fallen to Kansas, Wake Forest, Louisville and Clemson.
In the loss to the Tigers, Eagles QB Dennis Grosel threw for just 53 yards, and AJ Dillon rushed for 76 yards and a TD. Hunter Long had two receptions for 39 yards to lead the team there.
Over on the Syracuse side, they’re 3-5 this year. The Orange have wins over Liberty, Western Michigan and Holy Cross but otherwise have dropped to Maryland, Clemson, NC State, Pitt and Florida State.
In the loss to the Seminoles, Syracuse QB Tommy Devito put up 151 yards passing, and Moe Neal led the rush on 74 yards with a TD. Trishton Jackson had 57 yards on five catches to lead the receivers in that one.
The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 road games. BC is also 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 conference games and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 on turf.
Meanwhile, the Orange are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five on turf. Syracuse is 0-4 ATS in their last four conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall.
Outside of blowouts against Kansas and Clemson, the Eagles have been competitive in their losses otherwise, falling by just three to Wake and two to Louisville. Boston College had also posted at least 24 points in every game before running into the Tigers buzzsaw.
As for Syracuse, they’ve been a little sketchy offensively lately with 20 or fewer points in each of their last three games (all losses). I’m going to stick with Boston College on the cover here.
