Marshall Thundering Herd (5-3) at Rice Owls (0-8)
College Football: Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 3:30 pm (Rice Stadium)
The Line: Rice Owls +10.5 -- Over/Under: 46.5
The Marshall Thundering Herd and the Rice Owls will meet up in college football action on Saturday.
Marshall sits at 5-3 on the year. The Herd have fallen to Boise State, Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee this year but have otherwise taken out VMI, Ohio, Old Dominion, FL Atlantic and Western Kentucky.
In the win over WKU, Marshall QB Isaiah Green posted 230 yards with a TD and Brenden Knox had 84 rush yards. Broc Thompson led the receivers on 91 yards from his three catches.
Over on the Rice side, they’re flailing at 0-8 this year. In succession, the Owls have lost to Army, Wake Forest, Texas, Baylor, LA Tech, UAB, UTSA and Southern Miss.
In the loss to Southern Miss, Rice QB Wiley Green posted 104 yards with one TD and one INT, and Charlie Booker rushed for 28 yards. Austin Trammell caught five balls there for 52 yards and a TD.
The Herd are 1-4 ATS in their last five in November and 1-5 ATS in their last six conference games. Marshall is 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and 0-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Owls are 6-2-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 in November. Rice is 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 home games and the under is 4-1-1 in their last six in November.
Marshall has gained some nice momentum over this three-game win streak, and they’re scoring pretty well since putting up just 27-in a two-game span versus Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee. The Herd have at least 26 in each of their last three.
As for Rice, they’ve hit the wall and can’t get much going this season, logging over 21 points just once this year. I have to stick with Marshall here.
