The Troy Trojans and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will meet up on the college football circuit Saturday.
Troy comes in here at 3-4 so far. The Trojans have wins over Campbell, Akron and South Alabama but have otherwise lost to Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Missouri and Georgia State.
In the loss to the Panthers, Troy QB Kaleb Barker managed 421 yards and two touchdowns, and DK Billingsley had 81 yards with three scores rushing. Khalil McClain posted 128 yards and a TD to lead the receivers as well.
Over on the Coastal side, they’re 3-4 as well. The Chanticleers have taken out Kansas, Norfolk State and UMass, but have fallen to Eastern MI, App State, Georgia State and GA Southern.
In the loss to the Eagles, Coastal QB Bryce Carpenter posted 96 yards with a TD, and led the rush on 61 yards with another score. Isaiah Likely was the top receiver with a 35-yard TD grab.
The Trojans are 4-0 ATS in their last four on grass and 5-1 ATS in their last six games in November. Troy is 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 conference games and 6-2-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Chanticleers are 4-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 on grass. Coastal is 1-6 ATS in their last seven conference games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven at home.
The Trojans were playing from behind pretty much the entire time against Georgia State, and they put up some pretty respectable offensive numbers despite only scoring in two quarters. Trouble was giving up points on the other side, and Troy has allowed at least 42 in three of their last four outings.
That could spell trouble here, as the Chanticleers can score when they’re so motivated. I’m going with Coastal Carolina on the win here.
