The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the Charlotte 49ers will match up on the college football circuit Saturday.
Middle Tennessee sits at 3-5 so far. The Raiders have lost to Michigan, Duke, Iowa, Florida Atlantic and North Texas but beaten TN State, Marshall and FIU.
In the win over the Panthers, Middle Tennessee QB Asher O’Hara passed for 25 yards and a TD, and also led the rush with 159 yards and two scores. Jimmy Marshall caught two balls for 11 yards and a score as well.
Over on the Charlotte side, they’re 3-5 also this year. The Niners have lost to App State, Clemson, FL Atlantic, FIU and Western Kentucky but taken out Gardner-Webb, UMass and North Texas.
In the win over the Green, Charlotte QB Chris Reynolds put up three TDs with 336 yards passing and Ben Lemay had 155 yards and two scores rushing. Victor Tucker added 140 yards and a score on 10 receptions there.
The Raiders are 6-0 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 5-0 ATS in their last five in November. Middle Tennessee is 7-2 ATS in their last nine conference games and the over is 6-1-1 in their last eight road games.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are 5-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games. Charlotte is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 on turf and 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference games.
Middle Tennessee did pretty much whatever they wanted to on the ground against FIU, and it resulted in six rush touchdowns between O’Hara, Jayy McDonald and Terelle West, who each had at least 130 yards.
Charlotte is going to have to slow down the run if they want to get a win in this one, as ball control is going to be a huge factor. The 49ers have the goods to put up a nice points total if they can stay consistent, so I’m going Charlotte on the cover here.
