The Miami Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Panthers will meet up on the college football circuit Saturday.
Miami comes in at 3-4 so far. The Hurricanes have wins versus B-CU, Central Michigan and Virginia but have otherwise lost to Florida, UNC, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.
In the loss to the Jackets, Hurricanes QB N’Kosi Perry had 188 yards with two scores and Cam’Ron Harris added 136 yards rushing. Daquris Wiggins led the receivers with 62 yards on two grabs.
Over on the Panthers’ side, they’re 5-2 this year. Pittsburgh has losses to Virginia and Penn State but has taken out Ohio, UCF, Delaware, Duke and Syracuse.
In the win over the Orange, Panthers QB Kenny Pickett put up 232 yards and two TDs, and AJ Davis logged 103 yards and a TD. Maurice Ffrench added 92 yards and a TD on six grabs as well.
Miami is 2-5 ATS in their last seven on grass and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 conference games. The Hurricanes are 4-12 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 in October.
Meanwhile, Pitt is 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 in October and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. Pittsburgh is also 4-1 ATS in the last five on grass and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 at home.
Miami’s OT loss to a not-so-great Georgia Tech team certainly puts a damper on things moving forward, and the Hurricanes have now lost two of three alongside their defeat by Virginia Tech at home a few weeks back.
Considering Pitt is on a four-game win streak and scoring pretty well right now, I’m leaning toward the Panthers on a cover. That said, Pittsburgh’s last five games have been decided by a score or less, so this one could get dicey.
