The Line: Georgia Southern Eagles -15 -- Over/Under: 51.5
The New Mexico State Aggies and the Georgia Southern Eagles will match up on the college football field Saturday.
The Aggies are 0-7 this year. New Mexico State has lost to Washington State, Alabama, NM State, New Mexico, Fresno State, Liberty and Central Michigan in succession so far.
In the Chippewas loss, Aggies QB Josh Adkins put up 263 yards, three TDs and an INT, and Jason Huntley added 67 yards and a TD rushing. Tony Nicholson put up 86 yards and seven receptions.
Over on the Eagles’ side, they’re 3-3 so far. Georgia Southern has fallen to LSU, Minnesota and Louisiana but beaten Maine, South Alabama and Coastal Carolina.
In the win over the Chanticleers, Georgia Southern QB Shai Werts posted 61 yards and two TDs, and Wesley Kennedy led the rush on 129 yards and two scores. Mark Michaud led the receivers with 45 yards and two TDs.
New Mexico State is 12-2 ATS in the last 14 on grass and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight road games. The Aggies are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six versus the Sun Belt.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 5-11 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 in October. Georgia Southern is 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four at home.
There aren’t too many bright spots in the Aggies’ campaign so far. They lose by double-digits more often than not, but they have had a few instances where they put a decent amount of points on the board.
As for Georgia Southern, they’ve needed OT in their last two games but the’ve gotten the job done. I don’t see a whole lot of issues with the Eagles ultimately covering here but it could be pretty close.
