The Charlotte 49ers and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will meet up on the college football gridiron Saturday.
Charlotte comes into this game at 2-4 on the season. The 49ers have wins over Gardner-Webb and UMass this year but otherwise dropped to App State, Clemson, Florida Atlantic and FIU.
In the loss to the Panthers, Charlotte QB Chris Reynolds had 114 yards and a TD, while Ben Lemay added 144 rush yards and a score. Lemay was also the lead receiver there on 90 yards and a TD from four catches.
Over on the Western Kentucky side, they’re 4-2 this season. The Hilltoppers have fallen to Central Arkansas and Louisville but otherwise taken out FIU, UAB, Old Dominion and Army.
In the win over the Knights, WKU quarterback Ty Storey had 140 yards passing, with Lucky Jackson hauling in five for 45 yards. Gaej Walker was the lead rusher in that one with 132 yards.
The 49ers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 in October and 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games. Charlotte is 1-4 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five on turf.
Meanwhile, the Hilltoppers are 5-0 ATS in their last five conference games and 4-1 ATS in the last five overall. WKU is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven in October.
Charlotte’s three-game losing streak doesn’t look very good stats-wise. They’ve allowed at least 45 points in all three of those games and been able to muster just 27 as a high for themselves during that stretch.
Western Kentucky, conversely, has found some success with their defense over their three-game win streak, allowing a high of just 13 points. That said, they’re not lighting it up on the scoreboard either. Still, I’m going to go WKU here as they look to keep their streak going.
