The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will match up on the college football circuit Saturday.
The Eagles are 4-2 on the season so far. The Eagles have dropped games to MS State and Alabama but otherwise dispatched Alcorn State, Troy, UTEP and North Texas.
In the win over the Green, Southern Miss QB Jack Abraham had 421 yards with three TDs, and De’Michael Harris had 103 yards and a pair of TDs rushing. Quez Watkins had a great game receiving with 198 yards and a score on eight catches.
Over on the LA Tech side, they’re 5-1 this season. The Bulldogs fell to Texas in the opener but then rattled off wins over Grambling State, Bowling Green, FIU, Rice and UMass.
In the win over UMass, Bulldogs QB J’mar Smith had 239 yards and three TDs, while Justin Henderson had 137 yards and three rush scores. Cee Jay Powell had 70 receiving yards there with a TD from four grabs.
The Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last five in October. The over is 4-1 in Southern Miss’ last five road games and 4-1 in their last five on turf.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and 5-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record. LA Tech is 23-11-1 ATS in their last 35 in October and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
Coming out of the impossible Alabama game, Southern Miss has gotten back on track with two solid wins: one 31-13 against UTEP and a 45-27 win over North Texas. That gives the Eagles at least 31 points in four of their six games.
As for LA Tech, their offense is clicking right now as well; they hung 69 points on UMass and have topped 20 in each of their last five games. This should be a really fun matchup, but I’m going with LA Tech to eke out a cover.
