The Army Black Knights and the Georgia State Panthers will match up on the college football field Saturday.
Army comes into this one at 3-3 overall. The Knights have taken out Rice, UTSA and Morgan State but otherwise fallen to Michigan, Tulane and Western Kentucky for their .500 record.
In the WKU loss, Army QB Kelvin Hopkins had 71 yards and a TD, while Sandon McCoy led the rush with 41 yards. Article Hobbs’ 31-yard catch made him the receiving leader there.
Over on the Panthers’ side, they’re 4-2 this season. The Panthers fell to Western Michigan and Texas State but otherwise have dispatched Tennessee, Furman, Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina.
The Black Knights are 5-0 ATS in their last five on turf and 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games. Army is 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Sun Belt and 2-5 ATS in their last seven in October.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 in October and 3-1-2 ATS in their last six overall. Georgia State is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six non-conference games and 1-4-2 ATS in their last seven on turf.
Army had the misfortune of facing a stout Western Kentucky defense in their last game, which at least partially explains why they were only able to score eight points. The Knights can certainly score when the situation fits (52 points versus Morgan State) but there’s not a lot of consistency there.
Considering Georgia State is pretty good offensively themselves (at least 31 points in each of their last three) I think Army might get into a little trouble here. I’m going Panthers.
