The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Georgia Southern Eagles will meet up in college football action on Saturday.
Coastal Carolina comes in here at 3-3 on the season. The Chanticleers have taken out Kansas, Norfolk State and UMass, but fallen to Eastern Michigan, App State and Georgia State.
In the loss to the Panthers, Coastal QB Bryce Carpenter managed 118 yards and two TDs, and Fred Payton led the rush with 31 yards. Jaivon Heiligh was the top receiver there on 73 yards and a score.
Over on the Georgia Southern side, they’re 2-3 this year. The Eagles have lost to LSU, Minnesota and Louisiana but taken out Maine and South Alabama.
In the win over the Jaguars, Eagles QB Shai Werts had 78 yards passing and 102 yards rushing to lead the team. Malik Murray caught four ball for 27 yards, which was a team-high there.
The Chanticleers are 6-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games. Coastal is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six conference games.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games and 7-3 ATS in the last 10 after a straight-up win. Georgia Southern is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 in October and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall.
Well, after a three-game win streak that makes consecutive losses for the Chanticleers, and in those two games they gave up a combined 87 points. The offense is still there for the most part (37 and 21 points respectively) but Coastal really needs to play a complete game.
As for Georgia Southern, they’ve posted at least 20 points in all but one game this year but I don’t feel like they have the lights-out offense to keep pace here. I’m going to stick with the Chanticleers to right the ship in this one. Maybe even win.
