The Boise State Broncos and the BYU Cougars will match up in college football action Saturday.
Boise State enters this game at a smooth 6-0 so far. The Broncos have thus far dispatched Florida State, Marshall, Portland State, Air Force, UNLV and Hawaii.
In the Hawaii game, Boise State QB Chase Cord notched 175 yards and three TDs, and Robert Mahone led the rush on 74 yards with a score. Top receiver was John Hightower there; he came up with 141 yards and two scores off seven catches.
Over on the BYU side, they’re 2-4 so far. The Cougars have wins over Tennessee and USC but have otherwise fallen to Utah, Washington, Toledo and South Florida.
The Broncos are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win and 6-0-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Boise State is 2-0-2 ATS in their last four in October and 2-0-2 ATS in their last four on the road.
Meanwhile, the Cougars are 6-1 ATS in the last seven versus the MWC and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 after a straight-up loss. BYU is 2-6 ATS in the last eight in October and the over is 4-1 in their last five versus the MWC.
Boise State doesn’t have a whole lot of weaknesses; they do things well on both sides of the ball. The Broncos have posted at least 30 points in five of their six games, and held the opponent to less than 20 points in four of them.
As for BYU, they’ve played close in a couple of their losses and probably could have played better in some games but overall they’ve been fairly competitive. Still, I don’t think they’ll get close here so I’m going Boise.
