The UConn Huskies and Tulane Green Wave meet Saturday in college football action at Yulman Stadium.
The UConn Huskies need a victory here to snap a four-game losing streak. The UConn Huskies have lost each of their last 10 road games. Jack Zergiotis is completing 58.1 percent of his passes for 373 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions. UConn quarterbacks have combined for four touchdowns and six interceptions this season. Cameron Ross and Ardell Brown have combined for 435 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Matt Drayton has 10 receptions. The UConn Huskies ground game is averaging 104.8 yards per contest, and Kevin Mensah leads the way with 398 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, UConn is allowing 38.8 points and 416.4 yards per game. Omar Fortt leads the UConn Huskies with 36 tackles, Lwal Uguak has 3.5 sacks and Tyler Cole has one interception.
The Tulane Green Wave look for another victory to build on their three-game winning streak. The Tulane Green Wave have won their last five home games. Justin McMillan is completing 54.6 percent of his passes for 811 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. McMillan has two or more touchdown passes in three of his last six games. Darnell Mooney and Jalen McCleskey have combined for 445 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Amare Jones has 15 receptions. The Tulane Green Wave ground game is averaging 283.4 yards per contest, and Darius Bradwell leads the way with 325 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Tulane is allowing 21.6 points and 344.8 yards per game. Chase Kuerschen leads the Tulane Green Wave with 25 tackles, Patrick Johnson has three sacks and Larry Brooks has two interceptions.
The Huskies are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games, 15-36-2 ATS in their last 53 road games and 18-46-2 ATS in their last 66 games overall. The Green Wave are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The over is 5-2 in Green Wave last 7 games overall. The over is 4-1 in Huskies last 5 road games.
The UConn Huskies have failed to cover 10 of their last 15 games as a double-digit underdog. The Tulane Green Wave have covered seven of their last nine games as a double-digit favorite. Outside of a loss to the Auburn Tigers, the Tulane Green Wave are looking like the AAC contenders we said they would be before the season started. The UConn Huskies are the same team they've been for years, a club that struggles to get off the field defensively and is very limited offensively with shaky at best quarterback play. This is a truckload of points to lay, but how many times do we see UConn get these lines and can't cover? Far too often. It's the Tulane Green Wave or pass for me.
