The Northern Illinois Huskies and the Ohio Bobcats will meet up in college football action Saturday.
Northern Illinois enters this game at 1-4 so far. The Huskies won their opener versus Illinois State but have since fallen to Utah, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Ball State in succession.
In the Ball State loss, NIU quarterback Ross Bowers posted 241 yards and a pick, and Tre Harbison had 146 rush yards with two TDs. Daniel Crawford had 85 yards on five receptions to lead the team there.
Over on the Ohio side, they’re 2-3 this season. The Bobcats have fallen to Pitt, Marshall and Louisiana but taken out Rhode Island and Buffalo.
In the OT win over the Bulls, Ohio QB Nathan Rourke had 155 yards and an INT, and O’Shaan Allison rushed for 96 yards with two scores. Shane Hooks’ 34-yard catch led the receivers for Ohio in that one.
The Huskies are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 35-15-2 ATS in their last 52 road games. NIU is 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 rod games versus a team with a losing home record and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 6-2 ATS in their last eight in October and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. Ohio is 1-4 ATS in their last five on turf and 0-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Northern Illinois had a commanding 17-3 lead on the Cardinals at halftime, but were outscored 24-3 in the second half and gave away the game. That’s the second consecutive winnable game the Huskies haven't taken advantage of.
As for Ohio, the game five win should provide a bit of a lift, and they’ve been scoring fairly well recently. Still, I think the Bobcats will give up a lot of points here so I’m going Huskies.
