The Georgia State Panthers and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will match up on the college football gridiron Saturday.
Georgia State is sitting at 3-2 on the year. The Panthers have fallen to Western Michigan and Texas State this season, but also taken out Tennessee, Furman and Arkansas State.
In the win last weekend versus the Red Wolves, Georgia State QB Dan Ellington put up 382 yards and a TD, with Sam Pinckney getting most of the work on 120 yards and a TD from nine receptions. Tra Barnet added 139 and a score on the ground as well.
Over on the Chanticleers’ side, they’re 3-2 this year also. Coastal Carolina has beaten Kansas, Norfolk State and UMass but dropped games to Eastern Michigan 30-23 and App State 56-37.
In the loss to the Mountaineers, Coastal QB Fred Payton put up 240 yards, two TDs and one INT, while Jaivon Heiligh had 85 yards on six catches. Torrance Marable put up 95 rush yards and a score there as well.
The Panthers are 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 in October and 2-7-3 ATS in their last 12 overall. Georgia State is 1-6-2 ATS in their last nine conference games and 1-6-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Chanticleers are 1-5 ATS in their last six at home and 1-5 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Coastal is 1-5 ATS in their last six on grass and 0-5 ATS in their last five conference games.
Georgia State bounced back pretty well from the blowout by Western MI and the OT loss to Texas State with a solid win over the Red Wolves 52-38, but defensively they’ve now given up at least 30 points in every game.
That’s a lot of ground to have to cover if you’re on offense, and Coastal Carolina isn’t shy about scoring lately. I’m sticking with the Chanticleers in this one.
