The Virginia Tech Hokies and the Miami Hurricanes will meet up on the college football circuit Saturday.
The Hokies enter this one at 2-2 so far. Virginia Tech has taken out Old Dominion and Furman but fallen to Boston College and Duke.
In the Blue Devils loss, Virginia Tech QB Ryan Willis had 112 yards with a TD and a pick, while Deshawn McClease had 102 yards. Damon Hazelton led the receiving game with a 72-yard TD catch.
Over on the Miami side, they’re 2-2 as well. The Hurricanes fell to Florida and UNC in their first pair, but then beat B-CU and Central Michigan.
In the CMU win, Miami QB Warren Williams had 250 yards with one TD and DeeJay Dallas posted 34 yards and a TD. Brevin Jordan added 70 yards on three grabs there as well.
The Hokies are 2-5 ATS in their last seven in October and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. Virginia Tech is 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 1-8 ATS in their last nine after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are 5-12 ATS in the last 17 on grass and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 conference games. Miami is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 in October and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win.
Virginia Tech was on a nice scoring run to open the season, with at least 24 points in each of their first four games. The Hokies could only muster 10 points versus Duke, however. Still, I don’t feel like Miami will pull away here, so I think Virginia Tech can bang out a cover.
